A massage should not feel like you are selecting a preset routine from a menu.

Your body is not the same as the person who came in before you, and it may not even need the same treatment it needed the last time you were on the table.

That is the philosophy behind customized bodywork at The Clementine in the Lake Norman area.

Why we created The Clementine

The Clementine was built around a broader idea of women's care.

I’m Megan Soza, a Licensed Massage Therapist, and I have been practicing massage therapy since 2018. My work has increasingly centered on helping women who are not necessarily looking for a generic spa massage. They want someone who will listen, assess, and adapt.

My aunt and business partner, Robin Tallent, PMHNP-BC, brings another dimension to that vision through psychiatric and mental-health care.

Together, we are building The Clementine Holistic Healing for Women around the idea that women should not always have to separate their physical and mental health into completely different conversations.

That does not mean massage treats psychiatric conditions, or that psychiatric care replaces physical care.

It means we recognize that women are whole people.

What makes customized bodywork different?

A customized massage begins before the first technique.

I want to understand why you came in.

Maybe your neck has been tight for months.

Maybe your shoulders constantly feel like they are carrying your day.

Maybe you are returning to movement after surgery.

Maybe you are postpartum.

Maybe you have scar tissue that feels restricted.

Maybe you are simply aware that your body does not feel the way you want it to.

Those situations can require very different approaches.

The area that hurts is not always the only area I address

One of the most important things I have learned through years of hands-on work is that a person's primary complaint does not always tell the entire story.

Someone may point to their shoulder while also demonstrating changes in posture, breathing, rib movement, hip position, or how they move.

That does not mean there is one hidden cause that massage can magically uncover.

It means the body is worth looking at as a connected system.

That is why assessment matters.

What a Clementine appointment can include

Depending on your goals and history, a customized session may incorporate:

  • Therapeutic massage

  • Swedish massage techniques

  • Focused soft-tissue work

  • Lymphatic massage

  • Prenatal or postpartum bodywork

  • TMJ-focused work

  • Scar tissue work

  • Cupping

  • Gua sha

  • Heated bamboo

  • Aromatherapy

  • Body Red Light Therapy when appropriate

Not every client needs every technique.

In fact, using everything simply because it is available would defeat the purpose of customized care.

What we are ultimately working toward

The outcome I care about is not simply whether you enjoyed the hour.

I want to know whether the session was relevant to why you came.

Can you move more comfortably?

Do you understand your body a little better?

Did we address the things that were actually bothering you?

Do you leave with a clearer idea of what your body needs?

Massage can be one part of a broader approach to women's health. It is not a replacement for medical care, physical therapy, mental-health care, or other appropriate treatment.

At The Clementine, we want to know where bodywork fits into your larger picture.

The Clementine is located in the Lake Norman area serving women from Huntersville, Cornelius, Charlotte, and surrounding communities.

If you are looking for massage that is customized around you—not a routine—this is where we begin.
