Psychiatric Care: What to Know Before You Book

Insurance, fees, what we treat, and how to get started.

What to Expect

Your first psychiatric appointment is an opportunity to look at more than a list of symptoms.

You'll talk through what you're experiencing, what's changed, relevant history and circumstances, and how things are affecting your everyday life.

From there, your practitioner will work with you to develop a clearer understanding of what's happening and determine what kind of care may be appropriate.

Depending on your needs, psychiatric care may include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation

  • Medication management

  • Psychotherapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Psychological testing and evaluation

  • Ketamine-assisted therapy, when appropriate

  • Consideration of lifestyle and other factors relevant to your care

The goal isn't simply to identify what's wrong. It's to understand what's happening well enough to decide what comes next.
